Shift: NOC (19:00 - 07:00)/ 3 X 12s --- 36 hrs / Week/ 12 hrs / Day NOTES: Every other weekend and holiday Position Summary: Common Diagnosis/Treatment: Stroke, TIA, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Change in Mental Status, GI Bleed, Abdominal Pain Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4;1:5; # of Beds: 41 to 50 Charting: Cerner Scrub Color: Blue-Navy; Areas of Float Support: med/surg Special Procedures: None Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) unit is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with a variety of medical conditions and post-surgical needs. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and monitor patients' conditions, administer medications, and perform treatments as prescribed.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, post-discharge care, and health maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, document nursing interventions, and report changes in patient status.
  • Assist with wound care, IV therapy, pain management, and post-operative recovery.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families, addressing concerns and facilitating communication. Qualifications:
    • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
    • BLS/ACLS certification (must be from the American Heart Association).
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred.
    • Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
