Job Description:
Overview:
The experienced Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technician I
completes EEG studies in the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
(EMU) and in the outpatient Sleep Electroencephalographic (EEG)
Clinic. This position will perform Continuous
Electroencephalographic (cEEG) monitoring; evaluations; and data
analysis of patients with seizures. This staff member will edit and
archive EEG video data; ensure proper documentation; provide
technical assistance; follow protocols; review data; write reports;
engage in training; and maintains databases, equipment, the
technical environment, and laboratory inventory. The incumbent will
also explain procedures to be performed in a manner that is age
appropriate and understandable to patients and their family.
-Qualified applicants must be enrolled in or have graduated from a
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program
(CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostic Technologist (NDT) program.
-Qualified applicants must have one (1) year of clinical experience
performing EEG technician duties required. -*This is a night shift

Responsibilities:
Complete Electroencephalographic (EEG) studies including but not
limited to; equipment set-up for Continuous Electroencephalographic
(cEEG) monitoring recordings; application of scalp electrodes
utilizing the International 10-20 (or 10-10) system of electrode
placement; and the application of collodion or paste
adhesives.Complete activating procedures (i.e., hyperventilation
and photic stimulation); eliminate and/or properly monitoring
physiological and non-physiological artifacts; review, evaluate,
map, and classify impressions of Ictal, Interictal, and Paroxysmal
events from EEG video data. Annotate event(s) occurring during
daily scanning. Edit and archive EEG video data, documentation, and
mapping.Maintain clinical databases and archives ensuring
appropriate records and file locations are saved.Assist physicians
in real time with technical aspects that may interfere with EEG
interpretation/report generation.Work with the Facilities
department to keep the technical environment appropriate for
medical care and technical recordings. In addition to the inpatient
medical team, collaborate with the Nursing, Child Life, and
Behavioral Psychology departments to develop, implement, and
monitor medical procedures for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
patients. Communicate with inpatient team regarding non-LTM
EEGs.Write preliminary report and detailed description of EEG
patterns, seizure semiology, radiologic findings, mapping of
abnormalities, and selection of representative EEG
samples.Appropriately maintain, clean, and store all equipment and
laboratory inventory.Educate the patient and family regarding the
EMU monitoring procedures. Ensure that the interaction is according
to the audience's (i.e., patient and family) level of
understanding.Ensure quality control for all studies.Serve as the
point of contact for the lab's Emergency Medicine Physician (EMP)
regarding technical aspects.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is
required. -EDUCATION:Must be enrolled in or have graduated from a

Minimum pay range:
USD $23.52/Hr.
Maximum pay range:
USD $40.34/Hr.
